PEMENUHAN KEBUTUHAN EMOSIONAL LANSIA MELALUI KOMUNIKASI INTERPERSONAL PENGASUH(Studi Kasus pada Panti Werdha Kasih Ayah Bunda Tangerang)

The increasing elderly population in Indonesia brings psychosocial challenges, including loneliness and reduced social interaction. This study aims to analyze the role of caregivers' interpersonal communication in fulfilling the emotional needs of elderly residents at Kasih Ayah Bunda Nursing Home Tangerang. Using a qualitative case study approach and constructivism paradigm, data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation. The study applied Burleson and MacGeorge's Supportive Communication Theory, covering empathy, respect, sincerity, acceptance, non-judgment, and empowerment. The results show that caregivers' verbal and non-verbal communication provides emotional support through listening, personal attention, companionship, patience, and motivation. Overall, supportive interpersonal communication helps elderly residents feel valued, secure, and less lonely.
