ANALISIS FRAMING PEMBERITAAN PENIKAMAN TERHADAP TIGA ANAK DI DELI SERDANG OLEH MEDIA DETIK.COM

Abstract

This study examines the stabbing case of three children in Deli Serdang on December 9, 2024, which resulted in two fatalities and involved a perpetrator who was the victims’ neighbor. The perpetrator’s motive was allegedly driven by prolonged bullying that triggered emotional distress. The research aims to analyze how the online news portal detik.com framed the incident, particularly in emphasizing the victims’ emotional side and shaping public perception of the perpetrator. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, using Robert N. Entman’s framing model. Primary data consisted of ten detik.com articles reporting the case, collected through observation and documentation. The analysis focused on four framing elements: defining problems, diagnosing causes, making moral judgments, and suggesting remedies. Findings indicate that detik.com tends to highlight emotional narratives, employ dramatic diction, and portray the victims sympathetically. While the perpetrator was framed as reacting to repeated taunts, the media’s narrative predominantly directed public empathy toward the victims. This demonstrates how media framing can influence public perception of violent incidents and underscores the media’s role in shaping public opinion.
